AcouStick II
Based on information learned from the first AcouStick Emmett Chapman built a second instrument as a prototype for Bob Culbertson. Emmett has expressed his intent to make the AcouStick a standard product of Stick Enterprises. Below is Emmett playing the AcouStick II.
Tuning
The AcouStick II uses a unique Matched Reciprocal 10-string tuning. Since the extremely broad range of frequencies in the normal 10-string tuning caused balance problems on the previous AcouStick, this instrument takes the standard Matched Reciprocal 10-string tuning, moves the bass side up a perfect 5th, and moves the melody side down a perfect 4th. This preserves the Matched Reciprocal relationship of the tuning, but narrows the range of the instrument to frequencies that are reasonable for an acoustic instrument of this size. Bob now has the original AcouStick also tuned to this tuning. Here is the tuning of the instrument:
Melody
1. G below middle C
2. D down a 4th
3. A down a 4th
4. E down a 4th
5. B down a 4th
Bass
6. G above low bass E
7. D up a 5th
8. A up a 5th
9. E up a 5th
10. B up a 5th
